June’s “Audiobook Month” is just ending, and what better way to extend it than to participate in SYNC’s free audiobook program for teens? Now in its fourth year, this program offers young adults the opportunity to download two free audiobook every week from May 15 to August 13.
For a period of seven days, SYNC thematically pairs a contemporary young adult audiobook with a classic audiobook title. SYNC is an initiative begun by audiobook publishers and AudioFile Magazine to introduce the audiobook listening experience to teens during the summer months.
MP3 titles can be downloaded for free (through the OverDrive Media Console, compatible for Mac and Windows), for a period of seven days, although once downloaded, titles can be listened to at any time. Libraries, schools, and bloggers can access a full promo tool kit.
Participants can sign up for email or text alerts that invite them to download the new titles as they become available. This week’s theme focuses on “human suffering, response to tragedy, and the monsters inside all of us” with free downloads of Matthew Quick’s Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock (Hachette Audio, 2013) and October Mourning: A Song for Matthew Shepard by Lesléa Newman (Brilliance Audio, 2012).
